Why we need a compliment?
by. Dolvin ≈ March 11, 2009
ComplimentYou can lift anyone's spirit with a single comment. Compliments are one of the most extraordinary components of social life. If given right, they create so much positive energy that they make things happen as if by magic.
They ease the atmosphere around two people and kindly introduce people to each other. Of course, there is a way to give compliments. And, just as important, there is a way to receive them. You need to know how to do both.

People benefit from being the objects of compliments, but you also benefit being givers of them. Recipients benefit from knowing that you notice and learn that you value them. So compliments are powerful in motivating continued efforts. People strive to do more of what brings praise from others.

So, here are 5 reasons why it’s a good choice to use more genuine compliments in your day to day life.
  • You can make someone’s day. That’s a nice thing to do.
  • Increased positivity. Keeping your focus on the positive parts in people expands your own positivity. You’ll notice more positive things about yourself, your own life and other things in your surroundings. What you focus on in your everyday life you’ll see everywhere, not just in other people.
  • You get what you give. Don’t keep this in the forefront of your mind while giving a compliment. It may make the compliment seem insincere and like you are just out to get something from the other person. But still, people often have a strong feeling of wanting to give what they got. Perhaps not right away, but over time reciprocity and a positive relationship can build. And in general, what you give you tend to get back from the world around you.
  • Attractiveness. Positivity, appreciation and being able to genuinely express yourself are three attractive traits both in personal and professional relationships. People tend to want to hang around and work with people that have such traits.
  • It’s fun. When you give a genuine compliment you ignite a spark of happy feelings inside of yourself.

But sometimes we protest or object to the compliment, those answers instantly suck the positive energy out of the air and deflate the giver. They make the giver feel stupid for noticing and commenting on something so unworthy of praise. They totally invalidate the person's judgment.

So, the only one way to receive a compliment is graciously, with a smile.

The art of receiving a compliment teaches us an important lesson about life. It tells us that how we feel is highly subjective, known only to us. And it isn't necessarily observable to the world.

If we allow ourselves to inhale the positive atmosphere created by compliments, it can be powerful enough to transform our feelings. ^^

by. Dolvin ≈ March 4, 2009
Yesterday I've got pink dolphin's article from my friend..

Pink Dolphin
The world's only pink Bottlenose dolphin which was discovered in an inland lake in Louisiana, USA, has become such an attraction that conservationists have warned tourists to leave it alone.

Charter boat captain Erik Rue, 42, photographed the animal, which is actually an albino, when he began studying it after the mammal first surfaced in Lake Calcasieu, an inland saltwater estuary, north of the Gulf of Mexico in southwestern USA.

Capt Rue originally saw the dolphin, which also has reddish eyes, swimming with a pod of four other dolphins, with one appearing to be its mother which never left its side.

by. Dolvin ≈ February 19, 2009
Do you know what is avatar meaning? hmmm..
Among people working on virtual reality and cyberspace interfaces, an avatar (sometimes AV or av) is an icon or representation of a user in a shared virtual reality. The term is sometimes used on MUDs, in computer role-playing games, and shared non-gaming universes such as Active Worlds, There, Second Life, and The Palace.

This definition has recently been applied to online virtual communities and Internet forums in particular, as a picture that a member/user of such a community/forum has elected to display alongside his or her contributions in order to represent him- or herself. Avatars have also become popular in instant messaging, and are sometimes referred to as buddy icons.

Preparations for the Chinese New Year of Ox, 2009 will begin months in advance so that the celebrations be observed in the highest magnitude and splendor. As the different years of the 12 year cycle are characterized by different animals, people born on the different years also feature different traits and characters and most often then not, they are believed to be influenced and inspired by the animals of the particular year they are born in. With this article on Chinese New Year of Ox, 2009 we strive to hold forth the interesting characteristics and features of the Ox and how babies born in this year can be expected to display similar traits.

All years ending in an odd number are Yin and the ones with an even number ending are considered to be the Yang forms according to the Chinese methods of the calender cycle. Therefore the Ox year 2009 will have Yin forms along with the character of the Ox. Ox characterizes a dependable, patient, methodical and calm, hardworking, materialistic as well as an ambitious character. The Ox years so far have been 1901, 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997 and now 2009 followed by 2021 (according to the 12 year cycle).

People born in the Chinese New Year of Ox, 2009 will preponderantly have the below mentioned traits in their character: Leadership qualities, dependable, great organizers, loyal, patient as well as strong and responsible. They are also some of the best people one can have as colleagues in the work place as they are believed to posses strong work ethics and display their creative side as well, especially when it comes to decorating their home.

Since the people born in the Ox year are also trusted to be reliable and logical, people generally turn towards them for suggestions and guidance. Their honesty and eye for details also helps them to prove their worth both in the workplace as well as in their personal lives.

However there are a few negative traits associated with the character of the Ox that also is reflected through the people born in the ox years. Attributes like being narrow minded, stubborn, with low public relations skills and also very far from being emotional are generally associated with people born in this year.

So, Gong Xi Fa Cai... Happy Chinese Nu Year 2009..
May it bring for you good luck, good fortune and good times.. ^^

Sanssouci Palace - German
by. Dolvin ≈ December 17, 2008
Sanssouci Palace the most popular of Potsdam's palaces, is located in Potsdam German.

Sanssouci - Bird's Eye ViewThe location and layout of Sanssouci above a vineyard reflected the pre-Romantic ideal of harmony between man and nature, in a landscape ordered by human touch. Winemaking, however, was to take second place to the design of the palace and pleasure gardens. The hill on which Frederick created his terrace vineyard was to become the focal point of his demesne, crowned by the new, but small, palace—"mein Weinberghäuschen" ("my little vineyard house"), as Frederick called it. With its extensive views of the countryside in the midst of nature, Frederick wanted to reside there sans souci ("without a care") and to follow his personal and artistic interests

Sanssouci ParkThe garden front of the palace is decorated by carved figures of Atlas and Caryatids; grouped in pairs between the windows, these appear to support the balustrade above. Executed in sandstone, these figures of both sexes represent Bacchants, the companions of the wine god Bacchus, and originate from the workshop of the sculptor Friedrich Christian Glume. The same workshop created the vases on the balustrade, and the groups of cherubs above the windows of the dome.

Sanssouci Palace History

Sanssouci InteriorA king who joined his troops on the battlefield, Frederick the Great commissioned Sanssouci Palace in 1747 as a summer palace where he could have a respite from battle sans souci - without worry. You can see his fatigue in the many statues: the warrior in marble, his sword in its sheath, his shield down, a look of weariness on his face.

Most of what visitors see is the ornate original - not reconstructions or duplicates - and perhaps German's most impressive example of rococo architecture. In front of it, vineyard terraces stretch in geometric shapes into the park.

The architect G.W. v. Knobelsdorff implemented the royal plans 1745-1947. The result was a one-story building with a cupola over the oval marble hall and the vestibule in the center, and only four rooms on each side. The northern entrance was flanked by a semi-circular colonnade, the southern front decorated with 36 sandstone sculptures between the tall ground floor windows.

The interior, the walls, ceilings and doors of all rooms were richly and intricately embellished and furnished in the rococo style. The palace gained additional charm through its setting. The southern hill slope, called the Weinberg, was shaped into six terraces. The area at the base was transformed into a baroque style garden with a round pond (and later a fountain) in its center, with artistically cut hedges and flower beds and with many marble sculptures.

A few years after the completion of the palace a picture gallery with the Dutch garden was added on the hill slope to the east, the similar new chambers with the rose garden to the west of the palace. They form the rococo core in the park of Sanssouci.
