Pink dolphin appears in US lake
March 4, 2009 |
Yesterday I've got pink dolphin's article from my friend.. actually as I know Pink dolphin only shows in Southeast Asia.. but this.. Pink dolphin appears in US? hohoho... nice.. ^^ The world's only pink Bottlenose dolphin which was discovered in an inland lake in Louisiana, USA, has become such an attraction that conservationists have warned tourists to leave it alone. Charter boat captain Erik Rue, 42, photographed the animal, which is actually an albino, when he began studying it after the mammal first surfaced in Lake Calcasieu, an inland saltwater estuary, north of the Gulf of Mexico in southwestern USA. Capt Rue originally saw the dolphin, which also has reddish eyes, swimming with a pod of four other dolphins, with one appearing to be its mother which never left its side. source: telegraph.co.uk

Mamoru Robot to Assist the Forgetful
February 26, 2009 |
I found something interesting thing this morning.. hohoho... This is an interesting conceptual robot created by the University of Tokyo, and is designed to assist the elderly in their daily tasks or for people who are suffering from dementia or simply forgetful. Mamoru-kun, an immobile and diminutive robot that could tell you where you last left those keys that you lose at an average of twice a day. Developed in cooperation with Fujitsu and Toyota, Mamoru-kun measures a mere 40cm tall and weighs 3.8kg. Mamoru-kun can find an object the owner is looking for within specified areas and alerts the owner about it either via verbally through speaker or by pointing at it using its jointed arm (it has another two joints at the neck). We're still very early on into the technology though - Mamoru-kun's lost-item-finding powers are limited to pre-programmed items in a specified area only. For the system to work, you'd have to input items that often get misplaced for identification later. The whole area where you need Mamoru-kun to monitor would also have to be wired with cameras connected to the robot. While these requirements are severely limiting, Mamoru-kun's developers believe that it could provide great assistance "especially beneficial for elderly and sick persons. " Additionally, commercialization of the technology isn't expected until 2018, so there's a bit of time to improve it for practical use.

Do you know what is avatar meaning? hmmm.. Among people working on virtual reality and cyberspace interfaces, an avatar (sometimes AV or av) is an icon or representation of a user in a shared virtual reality. The term is sometimes used on MUDs, in computer role-playing games, and shared non-gaming universes such as Active Worlds, There, Second Life, and The Palace.
This definition has recently been applied to online virtual communities and Internet forums in particular, as a picture that a member/user of such a community/forum has elected to display alongside his or her contributions in order to represent him- or herself. Avatars have also become popular in instant messaging, and are sometimes referred to as buddy icons.

Since it's a representation of a user... we have so many different meaning behind our avatar... and For me.. I use avatar as representation of how I feeling that time.. eg, in MSN, I put cici as my avatar... hihi..
